TVLINE.COM – A new mystery man is making his way to Rosewood, and he’s got a lot of skeletons in his past.
Pretty Little Liars has nabbed Bones’ Luke Kleintank for an upcoming guest spot, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Dropping by an episode near the end of ABC Family drama’s summer season, Kleintank will play Travis, a good kid with strong morals (rare in Rosewood!) who has a secret that may end up helping one of the Pretty Little Liars in a major way.
Kleintank most recently recurred on Bones as one of the series’ ever-rotating squinterns. His other TV credits include Gossip Girl and The Young and the Restless.
OKMAGAZINE.COM – When I chatted with Ashley Benson to kick off 7-Eleven’s Summer Slurpee Days we naturally talked all things, you guessed it, summer. The Pretty Little Liars star’s love life is always under scrutiny (is she dating co-star Tyler Blackburn or isn’t she?) so I wanted to know about her perfect summer date. The answer is a little complicated…
“Going to the beach, having dinner, looking at the water, then going on a ferris wheel, then going to play games,” she says. “I’m describing Santa Monica Pier right now but that’s not what I’m thinking of. I’m thinking of, like, The Notebook scene. I’m playing movies in my head. And then when it comes down to it they’re like, ‘What do you want to do?’ And I’m like, ‘I wanna go eat and then lets go home.’ I just want to eat and go home and watch a movie. Keep it simple.”
While she loves The Notebook, Ashley doesn’t need overwhelming gestures of romance to win her over.
“I’m kind of a guy myself,” she laughs. “I’m more of a tomboy. I don’t like to get dressed up for things so I love to keep it casual. As long as the guy makes me laugh I’m happy.”
Pretty Little Liars 4×03 “Cat’s Cradle” – Hanna worries that her mother is keeping a dangerous secret and is determined to protect her at all costs, which leads her to an uncomfortable meeting with Detective Holbrook. A clue in Ali’s things leads the Liars to a creepy mask maker, who takes a shine to Emily and may have ties to another Rosewood resident. Spencer and Toby continue their search into a painful chapter of Toby’s past and Melissa returns to Rosewood. Meanwhile, A targets Emily’s mom, leading Aria to make a desperate plea of Ella.
EW.COM – Pretty Little Liars scored itself some not-so-little ratings last night.
The show’s season 4 premiere was the show’s best summer debut ever, with 2.97 million viewers. (Read our recap of the episode here.) That number is up slightly from the 2.93 who tuned in for last season’s opener.
The episode also grew 31 percent in the 18-34 demo from the previous year and ranked as cable’s No. 1 scripted drama of the night.
The cherry on top of those solid numbers? The episode was the “most tweeted” season premiere for any TV show, generating nearly 1.3 million tweets, according to the network. (Yes, it beat The Walking Dead.) Such accomplishments, while noteworthy, stand to mean a little more to advertisers later this year when Nielsen and Twitter launch their previously announced “Nielsen Twitter TV Rating,” which will essentially enhance the social TV analytics already available today and have the Nielsen-approved stamp.
Liars‘ social media domination is anything but new, however. In fact, the show’s complete domination of social media was just months ago the subject of an EW cover story.
Pretty Little Liars 4×02 “Turn of the Shoe” – Mrs. DiLaurentis’ presence in Rosewood continues to unnerve all those around her, especially when she gives Hanna a family parrot, whose gift for mimicry provides startling insight into Alison’s last days. Tired of feeling defenseless against “A”, Aria decides to learn self defense and is intrigued by her sexy instructor. Meanwhile, Toby shares a heartbreaking secret with Spencer, and Hanna makes an alarming discovery regarding her mom. And to complicate matters even further, “A” nearly kills the newest PLL – Mona.
ZAP2IT.COM – One of the central constructs (and most fun parts) of “Pretty Little Liars” is the messages the girl receive from the mysterious “A.” In honor of the Season 4 premiere, Zap2it has put together this handy cellphone graphic taking a look at “A’s” messages over the first three seasons.
As you can see, Hanna has received the most “A” messages over the years, which surprised us, actually — especially since we know she’s “A’s” prime target for Season 4.
We also like how “A” has gotten less profane over the years — and how s/he has more incidents of both threatening bodily harm and helping the Liars out. That “A,” quite an enigma wrapped in a riddle.
ALLOYENTERTAINMENT.COM – Shannon Benson, mother to one of our favorite Pretty little Liars actresses Ashley Benson, recently uploaded an ADORABLE video of her lovely daughter to her YouTube page. The video shows Ash (as a seven-year-old) singing and tapping away on stage at her school’s talent show. Best of all? She’s jamming to Gene Kelly’s classic ”Singin’ In The Rain!”
In the 1997 throwback, Ashley is as stylish as ever and can be seen rocking a super cute pink raincoat with matching umbrella and adorable golden blonde pigtails with curls at the end. Oh, and is that a military time step we spy? Little Miss Ashley clearly has been a talented gal since day one!
We hope this A-mazing footage encourages the producers of PLL to incorporate a performance by Hanna Marin in a future episode. Watch her full performance below!
It’s one of many questions Pretty Little Liars will attempt to address in the fourth season, which bows Tuesday. For actress Janel Parrish, it’s a fine line to walk, with Mona seemingly back in the Liars’ good graces.
“She’s become the fifth PLL, which is unexpected — and a great new twist,” Parrish said in a recent visit to The Hollywood Reporter Cover Lounge.
As the actress tells it, season four introduces another side to Mona (“She’s had like eight different personalities!” Parrish jokes). “It’s an edgier but more humbled Mona. She’s now ‘A’s’ biggest target and she doesn’t know why. She has to work with the girls to find out who the new ‘A’ is and who the new Red Coat is,” Parrish says. “This is the most real Mona has been since I’ve been playing her. She’s no longer putting on any pretenses, she’s just Mona. She’s manipulative, very smart, tough, edgy and not someone to be trifled with.”
But with “A” breathing down her neck, Mona is in even more danger than ever before — thanks to his or her willingness to be aggressive in his or her attacks. “This new ‘A’ is worse than anything Mona’s ever done,” she adds. “There’s nothing they wouldn’t do, so this is the most dangerous ‘A’ we’ve ever faced.”
With Mona joining the ranks of Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario), the very same girls she tormented over the past few seasons, Parrish describes the “team-up” — if you can call it that — as “an unlikely alliance, and a reluctant one at that.”

Radley Sanitarium has given Mona a clean bill of health and she is headed back to the halls of Rosewood High, much to the Liars’ dismay. With their former tormentor now back in their everyday life, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer take very different views of the “new” Mona. Sure she made their lives a living hell, but is she really cured? And what other secrets could she be holding onto? It is up to Mona to prove to the Liars if she has changed or not.
